my little pink fairy

it's been a while since the last time i did pink saturday. been helper-free since middle of april. after 11 years, finally it's just "us" - our family. all five of us. yes, i asked for it. even if that would mean sacrificing lots of "me" time. blogging and sewing especially. i wanted to live simply and teach the kids to be responsible, learn to do household chores, and be independent.

anyway, on to this week's event. my entry is a thumbelina - yes that's what she said she is - costume that i made for my little one for her schools halloween party.

i managed to whip this up, 3 hours before the 8:00 am party. my plan was to let her wear one of her floral dresses + wings. but... creativity and sewing mojo came in early in the morning and so this came about...

she was very happy and been thanking me endlessly on our way to the party. the smile on her face... priceless!

she merrily joined the games like... pinning the nose on pinocchio...
 finding "under the sea" treasures...

and shooting apples inside the pumpkin...

thumbelina was very happy and filled her bucket with lots of treats from other parents. unfortunately she got sick after the party and mom did not allow her to enjoy the candies she got :(.

now, she wants a "purple dress with belt" for her. just like june's dress in little einstein.

it's nice to be back.

hacking and liking it

i tried hacking for the first time.
i bought a plain green tee for $2.00.
ripped the neckline and snipped the sleeves
hem was snipped too
and further snipped into several pieces
to make fabric flowers
and to play first with other designs...
i kinda liked this...
until night came...
finally did this with some tweaks to add a personal touch
and did this to all the hems

so here's me with my take...
on this J.Crew tee.

easter-rific

my girls are hunting for eggs...
{do you see a pink flower?}
yay! they found one!
and they are very curious...
{oops, there's that pink flower again
and did you notice? my little ones are wearing pink! how fun!}
seriously, they are real eggs from the hen inside.
we were supposed to have 10
but 2 were taken by the puppy
and the other 1 mysteriously disappeared. tsk, tsk...
so, we are waiting for the arrival of 7 chicks! yay!
the kids are thrilled! and so am i.:D

and, and... can i just brag a little?
the clothes on my little girl with pony tail were sewn by mama.
the pink top was made from a scrap fabric. really easy to make.
a rectangle fabric, elastic, and a strap and you are done!

shorts was made from the lower part of dad's pants that i cut short.
i used pink thread of course, wink ;o!

oops...i made a booboo out there!
i accidentally closed the pocket and had to rip! sigh...
oh! do you see my pink buddy?

and the finished product...
worn by my little miss.

i just discovered a site where you can design your own fabric. spoonflower makes it possible for you to design, print, and sell your own fabric design. how cool is that? now, i wish i know how to draw so i could create wonderful designs to my liking.

red dress

the shirt --
a gift that kuya received from his favorite tito.
along with 2 other shirts with fantastic four prints.
barely used.

every time i tidy up kuya's closet i'd stare at this shirt.
been toying with the idea of making it into a dress for ate.
but i'm having second thoughts coz the print is not girly.

anyhoo, i still went on...

as always, my model is always happy for "mama made". :D
i think this is my first time to make a dress for her with sleeves.
glad it turned out fine even if the neckline became a suuuper scoop neck for her.
:D ttfn!

pink saturday :: buddy

when my seam ripper is nowhere in sight,
i rely on my trusted buddy - the pink cutter.
there it is, together with my other sewing buddies!

it was with me when i made my first shoe stuffer.

it was also with me when i made this for my youngest.
see... i made a mistake there *toinks!*
good thing my trusted buddy is always to the rescue.

yes, that was supposed to be a shorts!
as patterned from this little pinky .

that dyed blue cloth is from my shirt dress that i cut short.
i didn't want it to go to waste so i made it into a....
awww... she's happy with her new dress!
because...
we're the same!

thanks to my little pink buddy.
my sewing misadventures almost always come to life because of you.
i love your pinkness and usefulness!
